Born Irmagene Underwood in 1933, Jean spent her early years in Nashville, Tennessee during the depression. The family moved to California when Jean was 12 because her father Sidney, a blacksmith, got a job with Southern Pacific Railroad. The family enjoyed more prosperous times when the depression ended and... Jean never looked back. She worked for 12 years before she got married which allowed her to buy a car and travel with her friends (she often mentioned she’d been to Hawaii 5 times). She married Bill Paxton when she was 29 (considered late in life in those days) and loved being a mom to Lorna and all that entailed. Jean was active in her community: a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Orange since 1976, on a bowling league for years, a member of the Red Hat Society, TAWC, Gadabouts, among others. She was also the unofficial family historian. (We found over 200 rolls of Super 8 film in the house. It’s currently being digitized). Jean’s final decade was spent being a grandma to Kaia Soleil Ladd. Kaia LOVED spending the night at Granny’s and Jean had finally found someone who loved to shop as much as she did! Jean is survived by her sister Corinne Scheibel, daughter Lorna Paxton Ladd, Son-in-Law Jason Ladd, Grand Daughter Kaia Ladd, Niece Cathy Scheibel Wagner and nephews Ron and Randy Scheibel
