Jacob Barnes was born on May 8, 1956 in Little Rock, AR to Willie and Carrie Ruth Barnes. Jacob was the youngest child born to this union which included Willie, Jr., Ingrid Christine and Durant. There were four other siblings in the household; Marlene, John Wayne, Phoebe and Auretta.
Jacob was baptized in December, 1959 at Saint Phillips Episcopal Church in Little Rock Arkansas, where he notably played Alvin one of the three chipmunks (Simon and Theodore where played by his brothers Willie Jr and Durant) in a Christmas play. Jacob devotion to Christ in his later years brought him to his church in Costa Mesa, CA.
Jacob’s parents and brother John Wayne preceded him in death.
Jacob attended Granite Mountain Elementary School, Dunbar Jr. High (in Little Rock, AR) and graduated from Valley Senior High School in Santa Ana, CA after the family moved to California in 1971.
After Jacob’s high school graduation, he became a bus driver for OCTA. He was employed with them for two years. It was during this time he met his first wife which subsequently ended in divorce after two years.
Later, Jacob worked for an Aerospace Company in Costa Mesa where he met his second wife Dolores. In 2004, Jacob began working for Meggitt Defense Systems, Inc. (located in Irvine, CA) while still living in Costa Mesa. Jacob and Delores lived in Costa Mesa for several years before moving to Riverside where they purchased a home and stayed there for a few years before they separated, then later divorced and sold their home.
Jacob took ill and moved to Orange County and later Long Beach where he spent his last two years before becoming severely ill and ultimately passing away.
Jacob leaves in mourning his family, his sisters: Marlene Alexander, Phoebe Nash, Auretta Glenn (Walter) and Ingrid Christine Barnes. His brothers: Willie Lee, Jr. and Durant Barnes. His nieces: Carrie Harris, Phyllis Vines (Darrel Wilson), Yvonne Alexander, Donette Jeffers (Ian Jeffers), Victoria Gordon, Franchesca Gordon, Sherrie Lynn and Kris Shaunda Barnes. His nephews: Kevin Harris, Lacy Alexander, John W. Nash, Jr, Durant Aaron Barnes, Jr. Shean Paul Barnes and many grand nieces and nephews.
Jacob will be missed for his compassion and love for his family.
