

Jack was born in Fullerton to John and Ula Woodward. He resided in Santa Ana, Tustin, or Orange his entire life. He graduated from Tustin High School in 1944 and entered the Navy shortly thereafter. He was a Sonarman Third Class. After the war he attended Santa Ana College '49 and Whittier College '51. He also attended the University of Southern California. In August of 1950 he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Estelle Franzen. They remained married until her death in July 2012. He is survived by sons John P. Woodward Jr, Orange CA, and Thomas A. Woodward (Connie), Reedley, CA. Sister-in-Law Christine Franzen, Placentia CA, Nephew Timothy Franzen, New York City. Jack was employed by Tustin Hills Citrus Assn. and Irvine Valencia Growers (General Labor), County of Orange as a Deputy Sheriff and Deputy Probation Officer. After 23 years with the County he retired and worked 17 years for Fairhaven Memorial Park as a Family Services Counselor.
He was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Orange. He belonged to the Lutheran Laymen's League. He also belonged to the Native Sons of the Golden West, the American Legion, the Tustin Area Historical Society, Orange County Historical Society, Orange Co. Pioneer Council, Orange Historical Society, Tulare Farm Bureau, and the Republican Party.
His interests and hobbies included bible study, reading history and current events, singing in church choir, ballroom dancing, big band music, hiking, and watching USC Trojan football.
Memorial service at St. John's Lutheran Church of Orange at 4:30pm on Thursday, April 7th.
