Born June 24, 1938 in Rouses Point, New York, he was a son of the late Lavern and Irene Rivers.
John will be lovingly remember by his wife of 57 years, Hideko and his children, John (Gina), Michael (Kathleen) and his brother George (Margaret). John will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren and great grandson, Alex, Lauren, Brett, Kyle, Joel, Dominic, Noah, John and Brayden.
John retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as a Budget Officer. He was an avid military historian and his extensive collection of metals, patches and uniforms was admired by other collectors. He was an active member at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar historian group and he enjoyed donating collectables as well as sharing stories with other retired Marines. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family will attest!
