Julia Tafoya Acevedo, age 74, of Santa Ana, California passed away on Thursday May 9, 2019. Julia was born April 12, 1945 in Estanzuela, Penjamo, Guanajuato.

A visitation for Julia will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705. A graveside service will occur Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705.

Biography

Julia Tafoya Acevedo was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Julia will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

      She was born on April 12, 1945 in Estanzuela which is located in Penjamo, Guanajuato. He parents were Jose & Sofia Tafoya. Julia grew up in Mexicali and Santa Ana, CA.

      Julia was raised with 5 siblings. Older sister Carmen, one older brother Manuel, younger siblings Francisca, Jose, and Arturo. She was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

      As a young girl, Julia had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. She loved dancing and singing. However, to Julia, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.

      Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Julia enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up some of her best friends and cousins were Guadalupe Perez, Judy Tafoya, Helen Meza, Eleanor Tafoya, Dominga Serrano, and Chabela Tafoya. Her best friend for over 50 years was Guadalupe Perez.

      On August 12, 1966 Julia exchanged wedding vows with Francisco Alvarado Acevedo at Colonia Alta Mira of Tijuana, Mexico. Empathic and loyal, she devoted her life to raising her children and being a devoted and loving wife. Julia was committed to making her new family happy.

      She worked hard to be a good mother to her children and did her best to fulfill their needs. Julia was blessed with 3 children, One son, Valentino, and two daughters Evelyn and Natalie. Another blessing for Julia was the gift of four grandchildren, Isaiah, Christina, Joseph, and Angelina.

      On her leisure time she took part in various hobbies. She loved cooking and sewing. One of her favorite pastimes was going to casinos and gambling. She loved flowers and enjoyed spending time in gardens.

      Her faith was important to her. She was a devoted Catholic.

      Julia enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. She loved spending time with her loved ones in Northern California, and Mexicali.

      She was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Pebbles, a Chihuahua dog. They were best friends for 2 years. Her pets also included a cat and one more dog, a Chihuahua named Roxy.

      Julia passed away on May 9, 2019 at home in Santa Ana, CA. She fought a long and hard battle with COPD and kidney failure. She leaves behind her husband Francisco of 52 years, her 3 children, 4 grandchildren, sister, brother, and daughter in law. Julia was laid to rest in Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, CA.

      Simply stated, Julia was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Julia leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Julia Tafoya Acevedo.
