Karlene departed this world peacefully on August 9, 2026, at the Ivy Terrace Memory Care Home in Fullerton, Ca., leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering strength.
Early Life and Family
Karlene was born on February 27, 1945, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Harry Mathew Kesler and Agnes Smudde. As the youngest of eight children, she was raised with the values of compassion, diligence, and curiosity. Growing up, she often received clothes from her older siblings, and her childhood was filled with adventure, learning, and family traditions.
She was baptized in the Catholic faith on March 18, 1945.
Education and Personal Growth
Eager for knowledge, Karlene was dedicated to intellectual, vitality, and spiritual learning. After graduation Karlene decided to become a Speech Therapist and dedicated herself to teaching children who had difficulty in expressing themselves verbally. She also was dedicated throughout her life to understanding the teachings of Jesus Christ and the virtues of prayer to her Lord. After receiving a undergraduate degree she went on to receive a Master's Degree in Speech Therapy.
Career and Personal Life
Karlene's professional journey was being a teacher throughout Orange County and Los Angeles school districts. She quickly earned a reputation for excellence, reliability, and unwavering ethical standards. Over the years, Karlene touched countless lives through mentorship, leadership, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Beyond her career, Karlene treasured the company of family and friends. Although she never married, she developed dozens of personal friendships. Her closest friend in her later years was Raymond Brooks who watched over her in her journey to become independent at various facilities after she sold her condo in Anaheim Hills, California. He also was her investment and tax preparation advisor. As her health deteriorated he visited with her weekly bringing flowers and gifts for her enjoyment.
Legacy and Remembrance
Karlene Marie Kesler leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, humor, and resilience. She taught us that kindness is a legacy greater than gold, and that the measure of a life is found in the hearts touched along the way. Family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives who knew Karlene now mourn the loss of a remarkable soul., who will continue to honor her memory by living with the same compassion, courage, and grace that defined Karlene's days.
Memorial Service
A memorial service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary in Santa Ana, CA. at a time to be determined. Karlene passed away with Alzheimer's disease and requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Orange County California.
