Marguerite Sue Nitz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at the age of 84. Marguerite Sue Busche was born on March 6, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Dorothy and Gilbert Busche. Mickie was baptized in River Forest, Illinois, on April 21, 1940, and confirmed in her faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Round Lake, Illinois, in 1954.
Mickie attended Northwestern Prep in Watertown, Wisconsin, where she met the love of her life, Marcus C. Nitz. They were married on June 28, 1959, at Round Lake, Illinois, and shared 65 years of devotion and partnership. Together, they raised four children: Michael, Miles, Michelle, and Meg.
Mickie’s deep faith in the Lord was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a loving, supportive partner to her husband as he served in the ministry. The couple’s early years were spent in Tucson, Arizona, where they welcomed their four children. In 1971, they moved to Garden Grove, California, where Mickie became known for her warmth and hospitality to everyone she met. Their home was always open to others, from high school students to church members and faculty. Mickie’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, everyone who met Mickie felt her love.
Mickie was also passionate about nursing. She earned her RN degree from Golden West College in the 1980s and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange, California. Her love for helping others continued throughout her life, and her caring nature touched all who knew her. Mickie and Mark spent many cherished years visiting their children & grandchildren, cheering at every sporting event they could attend. Her love for her family was boundless, and her faith in God’s eternal plan provided her with comfort and peace as she looked forward to her heavenly home. Mickie battled Alzheimer’s for over 10 years and even in those years she expressed her love and thankfulness.
Mickie is survived by her devoted husband, Marcus C. Nitz, her children Mike (Kim) Nitz, Miles (Luann) Nitz, Michelle (Jim) Mueller, and Meg (Paul) Marquardt. Mickie was blessed to have 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great joy to her.
As we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Mickie’s faith has led her to the Lord, and we look forward to the day when we will all be reunited in heaven. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
