Marion was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 27, 1924, to Cora Ruth Young Foster and Lieutenant Arthur Lee Foster. Her father was a pioneer in aviation who died when she was less than a year old. Marion is predeceased by her beloved husband John, her older brother Arthur Lee Jr., and her older sister Corinne.
She is survived by her son John Jr., a visual artist and professor at UC Riverside, her daughter Julie, a tax lawyer, and John’s daughter Claire, who is pursuing her doctorate in Earth Sciences at UC Santa Barbara.
Marion and John moved to Villa Park in 1967. Although she would have called herself a housewife, she was the driving force behind, and spent countless hours dedicated to, real estate investment. She served as a voting poll inspector in Villa Park for many decades.
Marion was a kind, compassionate woman who cherished her good friends and neighbors. She was an avid card player who particularly loved bridge. She ultimately earned her life masters. She loved Villa Park and was one of the charter members of the Villa Park Women’s League. She always saw the best in all people and was always ready to befriend a person in need. Marion touched many lives with her generosity and her buoyant spirit.
There will be a celebration of life on August 27, the anniversary of her birthday. Those interested in attending should contact her daughter, Julie Divola, at [email protected] or (415) 706-9445. Marion will be buried in a private ceremony at Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary in Santa Ana, CA on Monday, July 25, 2022.
