
Michael David Lee, 48, died Monday, November 15, 2021 in an electric scooter accident. Born October 22, 1973 in Savannah, GA, he graduated from Jenkins High School in 1991. After graduation, Michael joined the Marine Corps in 1992, completing his basic training at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot in Parris Island, SC. During his career he achieved the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, and after 20 years of honorable service, he retired. He leveraged skills learned in the Corps to begin a second career as a Marine Corps Special Ops Recruiter. Michael also returned to school at Cal State Fullerton and earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communications & Public Relations.
Michael leaves to mourn, his wife Lizette Alvarez Lee; his mother-in-law Teresa Jimenez; his father-in-law Marco Gonzalez; and many in-laws; his father Jerry David Lee (Karen); his mother Marquita (Keta) O’Neal Van Blaricom (Brian); his sister Stephanie D. Lee; and his niece Emma B. Chappell, and many other cousins and relatives.
Michael will be remembered for his booming laugh and enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed many activities including riding motorcycles, snowboarding, golf, hiking and travelling, among others.
A private ceremony is planned. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program (ToysForTots.org).
