Milt was born in Santa Ana, California on October 7, 1941, the son of Milton Bower and Bernita Bower.
Milt and his wife, Mary Ann, were longtime residents of Beacon Bay in Newport Beach, CA. Milt was an avid lover of sports, traveling, and social gatherings. He had a deep love for ball games and specifically loved Southern California athletics. If there was a ball game to be at, he was there. Not only did Milt love sports but played them in college and high school. Milt is a graduate of Cal State Fullerton and was a member of their first baseball team. He was an enthusiast of Cal State Fullerton Titan Baseball.
Between sports games and family events, no matter where he would travel to, he was sure to make memories and friends along the way. Some would say that the best part of his trips was the way he would tell stories about them for years to come. He never missed an opportunity to tell a story and his grandchildren never missed an opportunity to ask him about those stories. He had a deep love for his family and friends and would give the shirt off his back for those that needed it. Milt never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to show up for those he cared about. No distance was too far for him to travel, and no family milestone was too unimportant for him to miss. He was a man who truly knew the meaning of showing up and showing out for those around him and those that had the privilege of being loved by him knew this well.
His laughter was contagious, he lived with passion and he loved well. He was so proud of his family and was amazing about being there for the big moments, even when those moments required him to fly across the country. He never missed an opportunity to talk about the achievements of his children and grandchildren, and there will be no doubt that his legacy and spirit will absolutely live on and thrive through them.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Bower; brother, Ken Bower; children, Trevor Bower, Susan Carlson, and Becki Smits; son-in-law, Scott Carlson; daughter-in-law, Esmeralda Bower; grandchildren, Richie Bower, Kace Bower, Emily Carlson, Jacob Carlson, Claire Carlson, Alicia Smits, Crystal Smits, Abigail Smits, and Holland Smits; and great-grandchild, Raelynn Marie Craig.
