Nancy Breeding Chase

October 19, 1946 – May 4, 2025
Obituary of Nancy Breeding Chase
IN THE CARE OF

Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary

Nancy Breeding Chase, a devoted nurse, advocate, and caregiver, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2025, surrounded by love. She was 78 years old.

Born on October 19, 1946, in Santa Ana, California, Nancy dedicated her life to the service of others. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Social Work from Chico State before going on to receive her nursing degree from San Diego State University. Her nursing career began at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and continued in critical care and cardiac care at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA. Witnessing the complexities and challenges of end-of-life care firsthand, Nancy was drawn to hospice work, where she found her true calling in providing comfort and dignity to patients and families during their final journeys.

Nancy was known for her compassionate heart and unwavering commitment to those often overlooked. She served as the camp nurse for Strength for the Journey, a camp dedicated to adults living with AIDS, and remained deeply connected to the community for the remainder of her life. Her legacy of kindness, courage, and caregiving lives on in the many lives she touched.

Nancy was legally married to her beloved partner, Karla Turner, in June 2006, following an earlier ceremony held at camp, Strength For The Journey, a place close to both their hearts. Their shared life was filled with deep love, music, and service.

She will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments, but also for her wit, strength, and uniquely vibrant spirit—an “acquired taste” whose presence left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her absence leaves a “Nancy-sized hole” in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Nancy is survived by her spouse, loving friends, former colleagues, and the countless individuals whose lives she helped ease and uplift.

Run freely, without pain, and be at peace.
