
Raquel B. Garcia passed away on November 16, 2019 at her home in Santa Ana, CA at the spry age of 100. She was born in Gonzales, CA on July 29, 1919 to Jesus and Dolores Benitez. Her family eventually settled in Santa Ana where she was raised with her siblings Richard, Rosaura, Ramiro, Robert, and Raul.
In 1937, Raquel married Benjamin Garcia. Together they had two children, Bennie (Sonny) and Beverly. Years later, she returned to the workforce laboring at various packing houses. Doing her part for WWII, she joined the factory floor at Douglas Aircraft and in 1958, she was employed by Arden Mayfair Markets where she contributed 26 years of service.
In her life, Raquel traveled on adventures as far as Hawaii, Europe, Egypt, and the Holy Land. She enjoyed baking and cake decorating and her house was filled with the sounds of the dogs and birds she loved. She was recently honored as the longest-standing member of Templo Calvario at 95 years!
She is survived by her daughter Beverly and son-in-law David Carbajal; her grandchildren Sheryl, Linda, David, Beverley Rae, and Ritchie; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three others who adoringly call her grandma.
She follows her husband Benjamin, son Bennie, granddaughter Lisa, and five siblings to meet her Lord and Savior.
Funeral services will commence at noon. Interment to follow. All services will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary in Santa Ana.
