

He worked in the oil industry for 40 years as a directional driller. His work took him all over CA and the world.
Ray had a lifelong interest in all things automotive. In his earlier years, he was a drag racer and later became a builder of award-winning classic cars.
A member of the California Roadsters car club, he enjoyed traveling and socializing with the club members.
Ray was also a die-hard Angels fan, and a meticulous craftsman who could build or fix anything he set his mind to.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Orange.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy; his daughter, Shelley, who lives in Austin,TX; and son, Michael and his wife Lisa, who lives in Dallas, TX with Ray's grandchildren Noah, Amelia, Max and Sailor.
He is also survived by his brother, Jeff Thompson, his sister, Brenda Schafer, and their families.
A private graveside burial will be held at this time, with a Celebration of Life later this spring.
