Sending our condolences and love to the Ramirez family.

Ray was everything a great father and man should be -- loving, kind, caring, understanding, supportive, encouraging, accepting, hardworking, intelligent, friendly, loyal, honest, sensible, happy, fun-loving, strong yet gentle.

We are honored and ever so glad to have known him.

Ray will always be remembered, always be loved, and always be missed.

My heart is broken and I am sending my condolences to the Ramirez family. I am saddened that I am unable to be in California to honor Ray as the family gathers to remember him. Ray was truly a “Ray of Sunshine”. I remember that he always had a smile on his face and was quick with a joke or funny little story. He seemed to have a cloud of laughter around him whenever family and friends were together. The Ramirez parties will always be cherished memories for me, fun times that will always have a place in my heart. I know I have said this many, many times, but my favorite memory, that still brings a smile to my face, is when having a conversation, over a few beers, in a small restaurant in Santa Ana with Ray. He was giving me a lesson on real Mexican food. He had me in stitches and we were both laughing up a storm. The “there is no such thing as a burrito; you don’t eat little burros” and also his lesson on taquitos. He told me "yes, there are small tacos, but if it is rolled (I can still see his palms slide as he animated his lesson) they are flautas, not little tacos". We had a great laugh and it will always be one of my most favorite Ray moments.
Strum your guitar among the stars and keep the angels singing and laughing.
All my love and hugs to the Ramirez family. - Kathy

Grandpa Meriz,
As I struggle to find the right words, I'm laughing at all of the memories we've shared with you. From the little finger mouse to your pennies jar, there is no one in the world like you. You gave us so much love, lessons, and memories that we can enjoy forever. You hold a special place in my heart as I know I did in yours and I'll be sure to share your love with the other great-grandchildren. I know you and Nani will always be watching over us together.

I'll miss you forever.

Your only great-granddaughter

Dear Papa,

Every moment I have gotten to share with you has been a blessing from God. From the drive Texas, to the drives to KFC. You were my first play mate and my first best friend. You have taught me many lessons that I will be able to pass down to my future family. I thank God every day, not for giving me just any grandpa, he gave me a Papa. The best Papa I could ever ask for.
Remember, this isn't goodbye, this is a hello to Heaven.
I will always love you Papa!
