It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father Ray, who passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was a devoted father, husband, friend, who touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Ray was born on May 11, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois to Anne and Raymond Schuessler. He attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Indiana with a Bachelor of Art in Economics. On June 25, 1955, he married his sweetheart Gloria Klima, whom he first met in 1939 while in kindergarten. Ray and Gloria first settled in the Chicago area of Berwyn, Illinois for 12 years, before moving to Corinth, Mississippi in 1967. In 1976 they moved to their current residence in Santa Ana, California. Ray spent over 50 years in the telecommunications industry working for ITT, San Bar and Exbar in a variety of executive positions. He retired in the early 2000’s to spend more time golfing, enjoying his growing family of grandchildren and time with Gloria.
Our father’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Ray was a loving and caring father who always put his family's needs before his own. He was always there to offer a listening ear, a warm smile, and words of encouragement. His unwavering love and support were the pillars of our family, and we will forever cherish the memories we shared with him.
Ray was a devoted golfer who took pride in sharing his wisdom and love of the game to all he met. He was also a very loyal and devoted sports fan of the Chicago Bears and California Angels in addition to all the teams his children and grandchildren participated in. He never missed the opportunity to share in the happiness of his family’s success and learnings in all their sporting endeavors. He was truly the best supporter a child or grandchild could ever wish for. Ray was sharp witted with advice and observations, always cognizant of everybody’s needs. His welcoming smile and unabashed positivity will forever be missed by all who knew him. There was always a bright side to every story. Ray was the ultimate father, grandfather, and friend to his family and all his children and grandchildren. They will forever carry the love and care for others he taught each one of them so well.
Our father will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ray was a kind, loving, and selfless man who touched the lives of so many. Although we are heartbroken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with our mother Gloria, who passed before him.
Ray is survived by his children Leanne (companion Jim preceded in death), David (spouse Indira), Paul (spouse Tammy), and Adrienne (spouse David), Grandchildren Brook, David Jr., Zakary, Monica, Mykel, Alek, Kolby, Madison, Matthew, Mackenzie as well as Great Grandchildren Anika, Ken, Jentzen, Crew and Emilia.
