Rene Pineda Bautista, of Tustin, California, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 after reaching the age of 76 years old. After struggling the last few years with Alzheimer’s and other ailments, he died peacefully with his beloved wife, Ruth, by his side.
Born on October 27, 1947 in Manila, Philippines to Miguel and Leonilla (Pineda) Bautista. He was the oldest of five children. Rene attended the University of Pangasinan, Philippines where he studied literature and would eventually pass on his love of reading to his children.
In the early 1980s, he immigrated to the U.S. where he worked a number of positions to save money to move his family from the Philippines to California. Rene eventually gained a position with the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked for over 20 years and retired in 2012.
Rene was known for his quiet demeanor, but when he spoke everyone listened. He was also quite vocal with his passion for sports and politics. A steadfast fan of the LA Lakers and Dodgers, he is undoubtedly cheering from above for the Dodgers to win the World Series this year.
Though Rene may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, drive, and generosity and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his children, Jessie (Sean Franklin), Jazzer (Rochelle Cortez), and Joza (Kevin Burnam); and grandchildren, Deija, Aaliyah, and Jayden; as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Leonilla; his sister, Beth; and grandson, Dezmond.
We find comfort in knowing that Rene's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
