Robert Marksbury “Mark” Kearney Jr. – dedicated husband, father of two, and friend of many, passed away November 2, 2022 at the age of 72 in Orange, California. Mark was born on February 22, 1950, in Kentucky to Robert and Bonnie Jean Kearney and settled in Stanton, California at a young age. He graduated from Loara High School in Anaheim, California. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Rosario “Rosie” Munoz Kearney. They were married in 1971 and remained so for the rest of his life. Mark and Rosie welcomed two daughters together, Bonnie Jean in 1972 and Rebecca Lynn in 1973.
Through the years, Mark enjoyed watching the kids in their extra-curricular activities and reading books. Mark was a stranger to no one and found great purpose sharing in the successes, joys, and challenges of those around him. Mark was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life. After retiring, Mark enjoyed his books (with an impressive collection of Bibles), his journaling, caring for his wife, playing cards with family, shooting at the range, drinking a cold beer on a summer day or a dram or two with his son-in-laws, tinkering in his garage, jamming on his guitars, watching Angels baseball; and most importantly, spending time with his grandkids. They are blessed to have known him and his memory will be cherished throughout their lives.
Mark was proceeded in death by his parents Bob and Jean Kearney. He is survived by his wife Rosie, their children Bonnie and husband Areg Kazaryan in Glendale, California; Becky and husband Mark Lander in Corona, California; his brother Clark and his wife Lynn Kearney in Lake Elsinore, California; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 12:00, followed by graveside service at Fairhaven Memorial Park.
