

Roland (Ron) D. Blodgett November 19, 1936 – December 18, 2015 Ron Blodgett went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2015 surrounded by Family. Recovering from a routine hernia surgery in November, he came down with pneumonia and had to be hospitalized for over a month prior to his death. Ron and Marilyn Blodgett were married September 16th 1961 in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. They Honey-mooned on Mackinac Island, prior to their travel to Orange County CA to be- what they planned as a one year adventure-before settling down in Michigan and starting their family. Ron spent training time at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside during his career in the USMC. He enjoyed the temperatures of Southern CA. They both found they enjoyed the mild temperatures of Orange County and decided to call their one-year adventure “Home”. Ron is survived by their daughter, Kathleen Blodgett-Blumberg of Edwardsville, IL, their Son, Roland (Ronnie) Blodgett II of Garden Grove, CA and their daughter, Kimberly Kay Blodgett-Altamirano of Orange, CA. Ron was preceded in death by their son, Richard (Rick) Blodgett who passed away July 26, 2015 and Son-in-law, Robert Blumberg, Edwardsville, IL who lost his life to Cancer April 5, 2013. Ron is survived by their eight Grandchildren, Katie Blumberg, Jacob Blodgett, Kelly Blumberg-Shoppell, Georgie Altamirano, Jr., Emilly Altamirano, Ashley Blodgett, Bobby Blumberg and Kelsey Blodgett. Ron was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert Blumberg. He is survived by three sister in laws, Marilyn J. Blodgett of Norco, CA, Corrine Blodgett and Susan-Peters Doorn of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Geraldine Blodgett, His Brothers, Raymond of Norco, CA, Duane Blodgett of Mt. Pleasant MI and a sister, Phyllis Blodgett-Doyle of Shepherd, MI. He is survived by two nieces, Susan Blodgett of Orange and Julie Blodgett- Revelino of Norco, CA along with Michelle Blodgett Davidson of Shepherd, MI. Nephews, Ray Blodgett, Jr. of Riverside, CA. Randy Blodgett Shepherd, MI along with numerous Nieces, Great Nieces and Nephews and Great Nephews from the Mt. Pleasant and Shepherd MI communities. Brother in laws, Doug, John, David and Stephen Peters -FL, NV and MI. Sister-in-laws Marilyn J. Blodgett, Norco, CA, Susan J. Doorn - Port Huron MI and Corrine Blodgett, Mt. Pleasant MI. In 1963 Ron started a Mobile Welding and Engineering services business. His original contracts were with Standard Oil and numerous other Oil companies in the Huntington Beach area where he help to centralize the oil wells into centralized islands because of the rising value in the land. He contracted on the off shore rigs and expanded his business on from the oil industry to work in oil related industries such as Diversified-Chemicals, One of his favorite contracts for eight years was with Actor, John Wayne in a research and development project in Irvine called Duke Engineering. He worked alongside this project with SRS Corp. He received his Welding training and Certification from Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, Troy, Ohio. He had a service that specialized in “Anytime –Anywhere” services and that is exactly what he did expanding from Orange to Riverside and Los Angeles Counties. Ron retired in the late 90’s. He welcomed His family, Relatives and friends to stop by and chat for a bit. His garage was the welcoming and greeting center to his home. Family times were spent traveling in their motorhome and enjoying off road motorcycle riding. Included in his travels were trips to Japan and to China for Ron and Marilyn. He wanted to be certain his Children saw as much of the United States as he did while in the service. Often times, they included nieces and nephews to enjoy their family travels. The Blodgett family entered into the real estate marketing in mid-70. Marilyn was selling homes in Orange County and when the homes didn’t sell she would purchase them as a family investments. This would insure them a secure retirement. She was busy at home with four growing children, by securing a Granny-Nanny she was able to close escrows which included 109 homes in her 2nd year in the real estate business. She was headlined as Tarbell’s top producer in sales nationwide 5 years in a row. She insisted she was only part-time.
