Ronald D. Ferguson Sr.

Ron was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Robert and Fannie Ferguson, he was an only child. Ron attended Steubenville High School where he met the love of his life Shirley Kell. Ron and Shirley were married in 1954. Ron graduated from college in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. Ron and Shirley had two children, Rick and Sharon. He had two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ron and Shirley were married for 57 years until her passing in 2012.

In 1969 Ron and Shirley moved from their hometown to Anaheim California. He moved to California without a job in place. He interviewed for several different positions and decided to take a job in Santa Ana as a counselor at Fairhaven Memorial Park where he worked his way up to President. Ron retired from Fairhaven after 43 years. During his years there he was appointed twice by the Governor to the California State Cemetery Board.

Ron loved watching sports, Ohio State football, the Lakers and the Angels were his favorites. In his younger years he played his favorite sport, high school basketball.

Ron is survived by his son Rick (Susan), his daughter Sharon (Scott) Michaels, his sisters-in-law, Lois Bickerstaff and Kay Bowers, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Meridian in Anaheim Hills and his caregivers from Apex Home Health Care, Haidee, Ted, Ron and Mary as well as the doctors and nurses at St. Jude’s Hospital in Fullerton, specifically Leigh (CCU) and Jessica (ER).

Services for Ron will be held Tuesday June 25th at 1:00PM in the Waverley Chapel at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana.
