Sandy was born on January 20, 1940, in Marion, Ohio, to Lee Roy and Dorothy Miller. She was raised in Canton, Ohio, alongside her siblings, Ronald, Lori, and Lee Ellen. She also enjoyed living so close to her grandmother, Lily; her Aunt Pearl; and her cousin, Sherry, all of whom played an important role in her life.
As a young girl, Sandy loved spending time outdoors and exploring with her siblings and cousins, who all lived on the same street. She had a beloved dog named Rex, who was both her loyal companion and best friend. Rex followed Sandy everywhere, even walking her to school each day, waiting for her until classes ended, and then walking her home. Sandy often shared fond memories and wonderful stories about her childhood in Ohio. During her school years, she developed a love for learning, art, and cheerleading.
In June 1955, Sandy's family moved to Westchester, California. Shortly after arriving in California, she was set up on a blind date with Wayne, and the rest was history. They both often said it was love at first sight.
Sandy and Wayne were married on March 27, 1957. Together they built a beautiful life and welcomed two children, Deby and Darryl. They shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. In 1963, they purchased their home on Trident Lane in Huntington Beach, which became their forever home - a place where they raised their family and where Sandy would live for the remainder of her life.
When Sandy became a mother, she wholeheartedly embraced the role. She loved creating a warm and welcoming home for her family, and her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed caring for others. Whether helping neighbors, supporting family and friends, or offering encouragement to those in need, Sandy was always ready to lend a helping hand. She loved inviting people into her home for coffee, tea, a meal, or Bible study, and she made everyone feel welcome.
Sandy enjoyed many hobbies, including painting, drawing, birdwatching, and gardening. She loved planning road trips, camping adventures, family gatherings, and holiday celebrations. She also enjoyed working on puzzles and playing games with family and friends.
Sandy had a gift for making others feel loved, valued, and at ease. She was generous, kind hearted, and selfless, always thinking of others and looking for ways to help those around her.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She was very involved in her church and community, and her Christian faith guided the way she lived and loved.
Sandy and Wayne faithfully attended church together every Sunday for as long as they were able.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Ron and Lori; and her beloved husband, Wayne.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Deby (Dirk) Williams and Darryl Mitchell; her grandsons, Tyler (Sherrie) Williams and Travis (Erin) Williams; her seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Lee Ellen (Gary); and many extended family members and dear friends. All will miss their beloved “Gram” very much.
Sandy will be laid to rest alongside Wayne at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, California. A graveside service will be held on June 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 17575 Euclid Street, Fountain Valley, California 92708.
