In the spirit of accuracy, I would like to make a correction to the memory I shared with my wife on February 16, 2022. I wrote that Shanna served as the first Relief Society President of the Anaheim 6th Ward. I was relying on my memory; I checked the historical record and discovered that Shanna was the second Relief Society President. The first president, Shirley Morris, served from 1967 to 1968. Shanna served from 1968 to 1969. Whether the first or the second president, we know for sure that Shanna was a great leader. She touched so many lives in positive ways.

It is with loving tenderness that we share our memory of Shanna. When we moved into the Anaheim 6th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Van and Shanna Blake family was one of the first families we met. Van and Shanna were a dynamic couple with a family of several children. They were the heart and soul of the ward. She served as the first Relief Society President of the ward, serving with Bishop Jack Rose from 1967 to 1969. Here is what she wrote about that time: "My years as Relief Society President in the Anaheim Sixth Ward, Anaheim Stake under Bishop Jack Rose were a wonderful experience. They were especially gratifying because I developed so many close relationships with the women in our ward." Shanna served many years in other callings in the Relief Society. Later, when our daughters were in Young Women, they had the privilege of having Shanna as their president. She was an excellent mentor and role model for them. We know that she has had a wonderful reunion with her eternal companion, Van. Shanna has been a shining light to her family, community, and church.
