Shirley was one of seven siblings, a beloved daughter born to M. Frank and Thelma (Patterson) Turner. She's preceded in death by her brothers and sister - a generation has passed on to heaven: Helen, Frank, Gordon, Kenneth, Keith and Paul.
Shirley attended Bethany Nazarene College where she met W.G. "Doc" Scudday. They exchanged lifelong vows on December 26, 1953. Shirley was mother to Marcia Lynne Bryant (Jim) of Abilene, TX and Brian Neal Scudday (Cheryl) of Villa Park, CA. She was a devoted wife and involved in the First Nazarene Church in the communities she resided. Shirley volunteered at the church and worked many different jobs from the auto parts store to the school cafeteria.
One of her greatest joys in life was being a Mema to her six grandchildren - Dr. Travis Scudday (Jessica) of Orange, CA; Lindsay Weaver (Josh) of Temple, TX; Drew Bryant (Tarah) of Mooresville, NC; Jessica Teets (Ryan) of Orange, CA; Zach Bryant (Taylor) of Leander, TX; and Kimi Scudday of Dallas, TX. She was blessed to know her six great-grandchildren - Everly, Taylor, Quinn, Cali, Mackenzie and Wesley.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 28 at 2 p.m. at Fairhaven Cemetery, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue in Santa Ana. Following we will gather at Avila’s El Ranchito, one of Shirley’s favorite restaurants at 182 S Orange St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries P.O. Box 843116, Kansas City, MO. 64184 or online at http://fundingthemission.org
