One of the most formative experiences in my life was the trip I took with Terry and a few others in his VW Camper from Munich through Austria and Yugoslavia to somewhere on the coast south of Athens. Summer of 1970. Wonderful trip! When occasionally friction among five or six young adults might have occurred Terry was always the steadying force.
We had first met in Phu Bai, VN, in 1967; then met up again a couple of years later in Berlin. And we were to meet again in San Jose in 1972. I never knew a better soul. Just a good, good man. There is too little space here to recount his acts of generosity. I feel I am a better man for having known him.
Sadly we lost touch after California. Through the internet I finally found that he had married a sweetheart, Emily, of 50 years ago. Clearly, anyone who knew Terry had to maintain a special place for him in their hearts.
He was a friend and confidant who is sorely missed. Rest in Peace, Buddy.

I met Terry in 1970 when we were both stationed in Berlin and serving in the US Army. Without doubt he was one of the finest men I've ever known. He was generous to a fault, kind, caring, and always a good friend to all. After the army he lived in the Santa Clara Valley and I lived in Santa Cruz, so we had many opportunities to get together over a drink or dinner, or to explore our surroundings. He was always fun to be around, and he loved attending unique festivals like the Dickens Fair, the Renaissance Festival and the Oktoberfest. I don't remember him ever being anything but positive about his life, his surroundings, or the future. He was fun to be around, a great friend, and I don't know how we lost touch with one another for so many years, but I wish that had not happened.
My condolences to his entire family and to all of those whose lives he touched.

I’m deeply saddened to hear he has passed. He was known to me as Grandpa terry was in my life for as long as I could remember then suddenly he was no longer as I grew up a bit. Some of My fondest memories were of him coming to my dance shows. He always sent me a Birthday card and presents every birthday without ever missing one. he never forgot a special occasion either. He was a man with a big heart, and I remember he had beautiful handwriting. My condolences to his family.
