Ted was born on August 27, 1940, to Rex and Marie Robinson in Hollywood, California. He grew up in Orange, where his roots ran deep as a third-generation Orange resident. As a child, Ted attended Mount Lowe Military Academy in Altadena and later graduated from Orange High School.
In 1959, Ted followed in his father's footsteps by joining the U.S. Army, where he served as a Shawnee tandem-rotor helicopter mechanic. Following his military service, Ted worked for 39 years for the telephone company as an equipment installer, rarely missing a day of work and instilling that same work ethic in his children.
Ted was an avid car enthusiast and owned a 1956 Morgan that was regularly seen at the annual Orange Rotary Car Show and competing in autocross events. He was a longtime member of the Morgan Plus 4 Club, serving in many capacities, most notably as the club's paraphernalia chairman. Ted and his wife recently became the club's longest-standing members, celebrating 60 years of membership.
Ted was a proud yet modest Army veteran, and for the past 38 years, he was a member of American Legion Post 132 in Orange.
Ted loved people and would be described as kindhearted, loyal, and generous. There were few places in Orange where he could go without running into someone he knew.
Ted is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra; son Jon (Sandie); daughter Joyce (David); granddaughter Sierra (Luis); grandson Andrew; brother Randy (Pamela) a soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter; and countless friends.
Graveside services will be held on June 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Fairhaven Memorial Park, in Santa Ana. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Ted’s life afterward at O’Hara’s Pub in Orange. In keeping with Ted’s laid back nature, casual attire is welcome.
