Bill preceded in death by his parents Troy & Cecile Trammell. Survived by his children Michael & Jennifer and their spouses Annette & Richard; as well as his 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, first and second cousins.
A 1957 graduate in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University and a native of Hillsboro, William D. Trammell was the Treasurer of the Fluor Corporation. He made significant contributions to engineering, corporate financial management, and education. He was honored as a Distinguished Engineer by Texas Tech in 1985. Mr. Trammell began his career with the Atlantic Refining Company (ARCO) as a process engineer. With the General Electric Company, Silicone Product Department from 1959–1968, he proved his scientific and engineering expertise through work that led to two patent applications–one for a high temperature sampling technique and the other for polymer structure of silicone dielectrics. Multitalented, he moved into sales, assuming responsibilities as an international specialist in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. In 1968, he joined the Fluor Corporation as a marketing research/economic analyst with Bonner & Moore Associates. He received an MBA with Honors from the University of Houston in 1970 and moved into positions of increasing responsibility with Fluor, including marketing coordinator for international sales; manager of finance and administration, Deep Oil Technology; and senior manager, project financing. In 1982, Mr. Trammell became assistant treasurer of the corporation and in 1984, treasurer, responsible for corporate financing, project financing and treasury operations.
Throughout his active career, Bill has found time to serve the needs of young people through educational and volunteer programs. As a student, he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Saddle Tramps and was Tech’s advocate with the Fluor Foundation for the Fluor Scholar program. Largely because of his efforts, the College can award six annual scholarships to outstanding students. He was also actively involved in the Boy Scouts and taught in a sailing program at the Newport Sea Base in Orange County California. After retirement, he greatly enjoyed volunteering in his community. He spent several years giving his time at the Villa Park Library. It was at the Bowers Museum that he really found a place to serve during his retirement as docent and later the treasurer. (Texas Tech Edward E. Whitacre Jr College of Engineering 1985)
Bill was a man who enjoyed travel, sailing, reading, educating, and socializing. Always welcoming guests and offering a cheer to brighten your day. He would go the extra mile for anyone who asked.
In loving memory, the family has arranged a memorial on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 @ 9 AM in the Waverly Chapel at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary located at 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
