Dear family of Millie,
I was the full time attendant for one of her patients in Santa Clara named Charlie.
Millie was probably the most caring person I ever met.
So happy she remarried and found the marital happiness she sought for and deserved. 
You were blessed and so were we.

Millie was like a mother to me as well as to many others. She was always fun, sweet and loving. I remember how difficult it was to move on in my life because I knew it meant I wouldn't see her very much anymore...yet she has always remained in my heart and this will not change.

It was our honor and privilege to have known Millie and to have lived right next door to her.  When we moved into the Redwood Avenue neighborhood, we didn't know anybody on the street but Millie and Les were so warm in how they embraced us into the neighborhood. 
 
To us, Millie despite her age and health was the epitome of strength.  She always carried herself with grace and dignity and forever had a smile and you couldn't help feeling happier when you saw her face light up.  She never failed to delight us with her baking and always remembered to bring us the best Maple Syrup from her travels to the East Coast.  
 
Millie loved to say thank you even when there was no need to.  When she couldn't do her recycling any more, our 13 year old son would help her.  Each time he would refuse to take any money from her and each time she would trick him with some pretext or the other to come close to her so she could quickly stuff money into his pockets or hands.  
 
She was our dear and beloved neighbor and we will miss her.

Millie Smith was a remarkable woman.  Strong, independent, loving and so giving.  Her smile was radiant and she was a joy to be around.  My thoughts are with  all of you in this time of loss.  She will be missed.

It is so easy to feel sadness when someone like Millie passes.  She was so kind and cheerful; always there for others and she brought a sense of ease to any situation.  This moment is one of loss and sorrow, but I feel lucky that I knew her and fortunate to have such wonderful memories of Millie and her family.  That joy will endure forever; the celebration of her spirit will last a lifetime for me and so many others.
