Ann Giovacchini LaTorre

Born Anna Lucia Giovacchini in San Francisco to Luigi and Angelina Giovacchini from Porcari, Italy. Ann moved to Santa Clara at the age of 4 and lived there for 83 years. She graduated from Santa Clara High ‘36. and married Joseph LaTorre on December 7, 1941. Ann took pride in being a doting mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was admired for her exceptional Italian cooking skills as well as her talents as a seamstress. In later years, Ann loved living at Belmont Village where she was actively involved in classes and social activities. A fierce 49er fan, she never missed Game Day! She awed people with her sharp wit and spirit until the age of 98! Ann is survived by her daughters Joanne Anderson and Jan LaTorre-Derby(Dick), and grandchildren Jeffrey Derby (Christine) and Jennifer Ann Derby. She was a loving great grandmother to Gianna and Eva who affectionately called her “bisnonna”. She, also, leaves caring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph LaTorre, brothers Guido and Mareno Giovacchini, son-in-law Jack Anderson, and niece, Rita Rose. Funeral Mass, Monday 5/9/2016 at 10 AM at St. Martin of Tours church, 200 O’Connor Dr. in San Jose. Private interment.
