Dad, it's been 6+ years since you've been  gone, but you will always be in my heart. I miss you dearly, it's been a ruff year in my life, and you would have been there for me for sure! I miss your positive ways, and the way you used make me laugh when I was down. I hope that your having a great time in heaven, I love you dad! R.I.P.

Pops is been 6 years, I miss not being able to call and ask about baseball questions, Britt graduated last year and now in college (Stan State). Mel is in her last year Denair Lions cheer, and more than likely be a JV cheerleader next year, she’s also on the volleyball team. I know u get front row, and sharing with Teddy. We miss u pops. Say hi to gramps and  to grandmas.

This is for my Dad ( Anthony R. Gouveia Sr.). It's been 3 months since we lost you dad, I'm so saddened, and think of you everyday of all the memories we shared as a family, expecialy the holiday's. Dad, you are in our heart's on this Thanksgiving day, and in everyday. I am so very blessed that I had you for a father! I hope that you are having a great time in heaven and that your wonderful soul rests in peace. I love you Dad!!!

Tony was the best father in-law one could ever have. He was a very funny,most warmhearted, & loyal man you would ever meet. I fondly remember the day Tony welcomed me into the Gouveia family, nearly 13 years ago. Over the years, we developed a special friendship, that one would have with one's parent. He was a second dad to me, that I was so proud to call him my father in-law. Also, there was never a dull moment with Tony, you could always count on him, to brighten up your day, by making you laugh, at his jokes, by putting a permanent smile on your face. In, short, Dad, you will be greatly missed, and we love you very much! may you rest in peace!

I loved my brother and will cherish the memories of growing up together. Picking prunes, our paper routes, baseball games in the orchard using taped up bats and gloves we got with green stamps, flag football on the lawn of collins school and Babe Ruth League baseball are just a few of the many memories. Tony was a good brother and a good man. Rest in Peace,

Tony was a gift from God, anyone that was lucky enough to know him knew how special he really was. he was all about giving and I believe he did just that until the very end. I was proud to coach with Tony and call him my friend, it saddens my heart greatly to know he is gone he is truly one of the greats he is now in heaven coaching once again with his friend Hal Petroni.  We Love you Tony you will be missed.

So sad to hear of his passing. If there was one guy I always looked forward to having a conversation with at Westside Little League, it was Tony. Always easy to talk to and always with a smile on his face. Such a passion for the game and players of Westside, and always eager to lend his helping hand. How many coaches out there can say they've coached 2 generations of a family? Well, Tony is one of them. Coached me back in '81 and my son in 2004 on the All Star team. He will be missed more then he could have ever imagined. May you rest in eternal peace Coach.

I first met Tony last year while watching my 2 little ones at the rookie level and as Tony assisted for one of the opposing teams. We would talk about random things and I always looked forward to those conversations. We ended up on the same team this year and thankfully had the opportunity of getting to know him much better while watching my daughter from my favorite spot along the 1st base line close to the coaches box where Tony usually went to work. Olivia was so excited when he pulled her aside during one of the very first practices to help her with her pitching. It was all she could talk about following practice. During games and in between innings he would come over and we would chat it up about anything and everything. I'd always offer up a handful of sunflower seeds and he'd always jokingly decline telling me he had a hard time cracking the shell and would then ask if I had the pre-cracked/out of shell type (I could never remember to pick some up for him). The last time we talked was towards the very end of the season while we each walked towards our cars. I remember telling him that based on how long he had been coaching, I was a little kid myself playing just down the road at Briarwood/El Camino in the early 80's. I asked if he had any idea of the number of kids he had a positive impact on. He didn't have a number but we agreed that it had to be in the thousands. 

God Bless you Tony, wish I had met you much sooner.

We are so saddened to hear this news about Tony.  My youngest son was lucky enough to have had him as a coach for three years.  He LOVED being around the ball field as I would see him often at my older son's games.  I enjoyed talking with him and he was always so warm and friendly.  He always talked about coaching and seeing these little guys through majors or at least as long as Coach Dean was coaching.  I know he was always so complimentary towards my boys.  He was one of the sweetest men ever!  We appreciate all he gave to the boys and he will live in our memory forever.  We and everyone at Westside is sure lucky to have known him.  I know you will be looking down on Westside in the Spring and my little Jake will remember everything you taught him.  Thank you.  We will miss you, but never forget you. We just received the news of Tony's passing. I am not sure how to express what joy he has brought to our family in the years we have been with him as a coach, a mentor and a friend. The kids' demeanors changed when coach Tony was on the field and he took the time to be playful with the siblings on the sidelines. My husband recalls the stories he shared and always looked forward to his smiles and words of wisdom. He will be missed but will always be in our hearts.

HIS LIFE LESSONS and dedication will never be forgotten. OUR heartfelt condolences go out to the whole Gouveia family who shared him with us all these years...

Our family is shocked and saddened by the passing of Mr. Gouveia.  He was a wonderful man who always was quick with a smile and a kind word.   He was always interested in my son Roberto and how he was doing in baseball.   I will miss talking with Mr. Gouveia.  Love and prayers to his family.
