OBITUARY

Antonio F. Costa

January 30, 1929September 29, 2019

Antonio Felix Casimiro Costa was born in the Azores in Portugal on the island of São Miguel on January 30, 1929 and was the third child born to parents Manuel Jacinto and Maria da Gloria (Casimiro) Costa. Antonio passed away on September 29, 2019 at the age of 90.

Antonio moved from São Miguel to Terceira in November of 1950. While there, he worked at the U.S. Air Station and married his first wife, Iria Pacheco, who was also from Nordeste, with whom he had four sons. After his wife’s passing, he married Maria Feijo on November 13, 1966 and together they had a daughter. He worked as a supply clerk where learned to speak English and received an award for his outstanding work. Antonio and Maria immigrated to California on December 13, 1973 with all five children where they spent seven months in Tulare before moving to San Jose. Antonio and his family settled in Santa Clara where they became active members of the community and St. Clare’s Church. He worked in environmental services at Kaiser Hospital for 20 years before retiring.

Antonio loved to plant a garden every year and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed serving in his church as communion minister & member of the Portuguese Council, and loved family get-togethers. His latest hobbies included playing with his great-grandbabies and watching Portuguese programs on TV. He was always a gentleman, a loving husband, a great father, wonderful grandfather (Vovô) and great-grandfather. He was a gentle soul, an educated man, and most of all, a faithful Catholic man.

Antonio is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maria de Ascenção Feijo Costa and their five children: Antonio Costa Jr, Luis Costa, Norberto Costa, Carlos (Nadine) Costa and Fatima Costa, his grandchildren, Mitchell, Mason, Dustin, Sean, Michael (Megan), Amy (Patrick), Scott, Christina, Chris, and great-grandchildren, Maxon, Mylo, Luna, Boden, Colette, and baby coming March 2020. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dimas Feijo, Jacinto and Natal Feijo, and Teresinha Feijo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Iria, his brother, Americo, his sister, Cristina, His father-in-law and mother-in-law, Manuel and Maria Lurdes Feijo, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Maria da Luz Costa, Ernesto Gonçalves, Manuel Feijo, Manuel and Fatima Medeiros, Jose and Esmeralda Sousa, Shirley Feijo and nieces, Isabel Costa and Filomena Gonçalves.

The family would like to thank everyone who have reached out and offered their support and shared wonderful memories of him.
