

August "Gus" Dominguez went home to be with his wife in heaven on January 21, 2012. He is survived by his daughter Jean Soper and her husband John; her son David Dominguez and his wife Sandra; his grandchildren, James, Joshua, Angelia; his brothers, Vincent and Fred; and his sisters, Antoinette, Carmen and Jossie.
Gus was born in San Francisco on March 1, 1928. He has always been a hard and dedicated working man. At a very young age, he started working to help support his family after his father's death. During WWII at the age of 16, he joined the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was in Okinawa when the war ended. Until the age of 30, he continued to travel the world as a Merchant Seaman; but do to love, he quit the sea to marry Carmel. On August 23, 1958, Gus and Carmel married. He then became a Machinist until his retirement.
In the 60's Gus and Carmel moved to Santa Clara where they had their two children. He continued his life completely devoted to his wife and children, who he loved very much.
Gus loved riding motorcycles, bicycles and taking long walks. He enjoyed going to casinos, where he was always lucky. He will mostly be remembered for his joking ways and his contagious personality. Gus is so loved, he will be missed very much.
A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at St Justin Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
