Barbara Alice Tiernan Eisengart, passed away on her 94th birthday, August 29, 2021, in San Jose, California. She was the eldest of the seven children born to Earl and Elisabeth Tiernan in the Bay Area and lived a life of joyous happiness surrounded always by family, friends, and colleagues.
Barb, as she was called, was a reading teacher for many years in the Evergreen School District before retiring and moving with her husband Marvin "Bud" Eisengart to Gold Beach, Oregon where together they spent many happy years.
After Bud's death, Barb returned to the Bay Area and lived with her sisters and their families, Therese Tiernan Maes in San Jose and Celeste Tiernan Gisla in Sacramento
California, who showered her with love and affection. During this time, Barb was grateful for the love and support of Sheelagh Tiernan Lopez, who helped to manage her financial affairs and Sister Elisabeth Tiernan, SNDdeN, with whom she shared a love for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and the Sisters of Mercy, Burlingame. Bud's children, Jan Macias and Bruce Eisengart, were a wonderful part of her life as well.
Barb's Catholic faith was essential to her, and she stayed close throughout her many years.
Her family and friends will gather and celebrate her passage from death to new life on Wednesday and Thursday, September 22, and 23. See service details below.
May her many family members and friends be comforted by the knowledge that Barb has returned to her heavenly home and is enjoying new life with those who have gone ahead, especially her loving husband Bud, her parents Earl and Elisabeth, and her beloved brothers Peter and Greg Tiernan.
