Berniece (Bee) Pickerel

Passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on January 26, 2011 at her home in Santa Clara. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 48 years, Curtis Pickerel. Bee was the beloved mother of John Pickerel (Angelina) and grandmother of Rachel Pickerel. She was the loving older sister of Doris Bianco, Melvin Barlow, Frances Sasules (Alfred), Delma Soares (Henry), Toni Bass (John), Norma Antrim, Nona Yates (Bill), Larry "Butch" Barlow (Lenora), Susan Spencer (Bill), and Robert Barlow (Sandy). She was always the doting and caring Aunt "Bee Bee" to her many nieces and nephews and their families, and she will be dearly missed.Bee was born to Ora and Alma Barlow in Colorado and grew up in the Salinas Valley of California. She married Curtis in 1945 and the young family relocated to Bakersfield in 1948. She remained in Bakersfield after her husband's death in 1994 until 2003 when she moved to Santa Clara to be closer to her son.Visitation Tuesday 2/1 from 1-4pm at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Graveside Service Wednesday 2/2 at 1pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bee's name to the Alzheimer's Association .
