Through a series of tragic circumstances, Carmela Ann Campagna died at peace, surrounded by the love from family both near and far. The daughter of Emanuel Campisi and Sarah Mangiamiele, Carmela was born on September 16, 1920, in Omaha, Nebraska and died on May 9, 2014, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband, Don, and her son, Frank. Carmela is survived by her children Don (Eileen), Tom, and Mariann Kraemer (Terry), and her brothers, Joe (Dorothy), Sam, and Tony. She will be forever missed by her grandchildren, Joe, Nina, Scott, Molly, Kelly, and Michael. She was a precious GG to Lindsay, Robert, Tyler and Kuiper. The daughter of Sicilian immigrants, Carmela embraced her heritage. She loved anything Italian, especially the music of Dean Martin. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, and everyone enjoyed her special dishes and treats. Carmela grew up during the Great Depression, and although life was difficult, her determined spirit kept her going. She cared for a sick sister and helped raise the younger members of the family. Carmela danced to the music of the big bands, and the time spent traveling with Don during WWII was special to her. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and fondly remembered vacations with her children and grandchildren. Never one to miss a hairdresser's appointment, Carmela had her hair done, and then went to the hospital with a broken shoulder. Her love of family and love of God both embraced her soul. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm, Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara.
