Carol J. Ragsdale

Born in Denver, Co. Carol recently succumbed to cancer. Beloved wife of Rod, mother of Michele-Bridget and Marlene, mother-in-law of Mathew Wilhelm and grandmother of Logan Wilhelm. A dedicated teacher at Sutter Elementary School for 45 years, she had a great love for teaching and her students. She was chosen 1990 Santa Clara Unified School Dist. Teacher of the Year. Involved in many of her students outside activities, including sporting events, recitals and performances. She founded the Sutter School Writing Club, participated in every Young Writers' Exposition since its inception 29 years ago. Her donation of hundreds of children's books to Sutter School prompted the creation of the Carol Ragsdale Research Center. She stayed in touch with many of her former students and her personal letters to every one of her students at the end of each year are still cherished and reread by many now in adulthood. Oct. 29, 10:00am at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, 4911 Moorpark Ave. San Jose, with a Memorial Reception following at Sutter Elementary School.
