I have so many memories of Dan, Dorothy, Scott and Mike.  I'm just so happy Scott took us to see him while we were in Cal. He was in such good spirits. Still talking about his love, Dorothy. I will treasure his book always.

Jim Brown Sr. and I stayed at Dan's home in 1995 while we were moving to California.  The biggest thing I remember about him was his graciousness.  He was all of that, kind, polite, warm and friendly, and extremely accommodating.  His smile was as bright as the California sun and sweetly charming.  A wonderful man has departed this life leaving all who knew him, his love, his wit, his talents, and his intelligence with a gratitude for knowing him.

A navy man, a banjo player, a singer, a gold panner, an architect, a father... These are all jobs he was very good at, but he was the best at being a grandpa. The job of a grandpa is to provide fun, tons of laughter, words of wisdom and unconditional love. That was grandpa Dan. Every Christmas morning, every birthday, every soccer game or skinned knee, there was grandpa Dan with his warm smile and kisses. He always put everyone else first, even in his final days when we all teared up at his bedside he was sure to show that smile and crack some jokes about the hospital juice being whiskey just to make us laugh. You don't meet many people like that in life and we can all be so grateful we could spend so many years with him. So while he might not play another banjo or pan for gold in another creek, he will always be grandpa.

I have so many Memories of Dan. Dan and Dorothy, my Sister, were always on my mind growing up. My trips to California were always Special to me. I miss Them Dearly. Love Always.

Dan will be missed, but his memory will always be there.  I'll never forget his engaging, mischievous smile as he entered the classroom at West Valley College.  We were all drawn to Dan's wonderful, charming, and positive personality.  He was a pleasure to have in Adapted PE.

Growing up next to the McNiven's was a blessing. I have such fond memories of Dan. Watching the 49ers play at Kezar, camping, gold panning and of course the famed Tahoe trip. Dan was always smiles, warmth, joy, and fun all for which I am grateful. I will cherish the memories and miss his smile.

I have so many wonderful memories of Dan.  He and Dorothy were always wonderful to me. Dan always had a smile that could light up the world.  He was a truly wonderful man.

Dan was one of the kindest men I've ever known.  He was very loved and will be missed.

So Sorry for your loss,your dad was a great man to know,I I am glad to know I had the privilege to know and grow up with Dan as my neighbor,he was a great mentor to me and told me to always keep my head up in bad times,he was loved by all in the neighborhood, he will be greatly missed!!!
