David married Marion Ada Brown in Maine in August 1963 and soon after they drove to California to begin life together. They initially settled in Sunnyvale, California, where David’s first job was at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company (LMSC). David’s 60-year semiconductor career saw him employed at several major companies over the years, most notably Fairchild Semiconductor and Hewlett-Packard Company where he was the Corporate Reliability Physicist. In later years, David taught seminars in Semiconductor Failure Analysis worldwide. This led him to form a small company, Accelerated Analysis, which provides specialty tools and chemicals for use in semiconductor failure analysis.
David is a Senior Life member of IEEE; and a Life member of ASM, and EOS/ESD. His work was recently recognized through the 2023 EDFAS President’s Award. The Electronic Device Failure Analysis Society (EDFAS) is an affiliate society of ASM International. This award recognizes exceptional service to EDFAS and the failure analysis community. “Throughout a long career in failure analysis, David has provided mentoring, formal teaching, and tools worldwide for members of the EDFAS community.”
David holds two patents related to failure analysis of semiconductor devices. He has written several books & contributed material to others; has written papers & presented them at the International Reliability Physics Symposium (IRPS) and has written extensively over the years for EDFA magazine. David was General Chairman of IRPS in 1983 and was more recently, an Associate Editor of EDFA magazine.
