David Vincent Downs

David Vincent Downs, 45, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family on November 30, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born on February 24, 1976 in New Jersey and moved to Cupertino when he was a child. He attended Monte Vista High School and De Anza College and was employed by Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale.

David is survived by Jennifer, his loving wife and life partner of over 27 years. He was an inspiration to his children, David, Kailani, Andrew, Mathew, Michael, and Mya. David is also survived by his mother Carol and step- father Art Downs, his father, Chris DiMichele and his father-in-law, Dennis Walias. He was preceded in death by his loving mother-in-law, Cecilia Walias.

David loved and cherished his family, the outings they took to the beach, their trips to Hawaii, family dinners and various activities they experienced together. These family memories will be with his children throughout their lives.

David loved the game of baseball and was an avid fan both as a player, playing in organized baseball growing up including playing with De Anza College, as a coach to his sons teams in the Santa Teresa Little League and Morgan Hill Pony League, and as a fan of the San Francisco Giants. The biggest highlight was attending Giant’s Spring Training and meeting his baseball idol, Will Clark.

David’s other passion was his love of cars and his time spent refurbishing several Camaros. Sharing this passion for cars with his sons meant so much to him.

David will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will live on through his greatest legacy, his children.

Services will be held on December 11, 2021, visitation at 10am, Memorial Service at 11am at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary 466 North Winchester Blvd Santa Clara. Burial will be at 12:30 at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery 490 Lincoln Street Santa Clara. A reception following the services will be held at the Downs Family home at 215 La Crosse Morgan Hill. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society in honor of David.

A funeral service for David will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St, Santa Clara, CA 95050. A visitation will occur Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
