Dominic passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013, after a year's illness. He was born on March 3, 1933, in Ladd, Illinois, to Ferdinando "Fred" Credi and Maria Pichioni Credi, who emigrated from northern Italy in the early 1900's. Dom "Moe" Credi attended Hall Township High School in Spring Valley, Illinois, where he excelled in sports: football, basketball, track, and baseball. When playing baseball as a Senior, he stepped in when the original pitcher was injured and won 7 games: 1 no-hitter that has not been matched and 6 one-hitters, winning the North Central Illinois Conference. Dom served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was sent to England, where he designed airfields and learned to love the country and its people. Some of them still correspond with him. After his discharge, Dom returned home and started college, first at what was then LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College, where he continued in sports, and then to the Allied Institute of Technology in Chicago, where he earned his degree. He and his wife, Marilyn, then moved to California, where he began a 40-year career doing the work he loved in start-up companies in Silicon Valley. During these years, Dom spent a number of years in scouting because of his two sons' interest. He was Cubmaster of Pack 320 at Easterbrook School for 6 years and continued on into Boy Scouting with his son Don. In later years, he followed in his father's footsteps and took up bocce ball with Don, and they played in the leagues at Campo de Bocce in Los Gatos. right up until his illness. Dom had a lifelong love of Notre Dame and its football team and followed the team avidly. He would get so excited that his sons bought him a sponge "brick" that he could throw at the TV screen when things weren't going well. Dom is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn, his two sons, John and Don, and his grandson Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa Wold, of Ottawa, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Albert, Fred, Quinto, and Joe, and his sister, Elisebetha. Dom, we will miss your wonderful smile, your loving heart, your positive attitude toward life, and your WHISTLE. Visitation will be held at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara, on Friday, November 22, from 5 to 9 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 23, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Apostles Church, 4911 Moorpark Ave., San Jose, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
