A native of Stevens Point, WI, he passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones, after a short battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his wife, Josephine, and his daughter, Carla, and survived by four children, Donald Jr., Gregory, Linda, and Denise. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joshua, Dawn, Matt, Nicole, Courtney, Amy, Danielle, Ashley, Kendra, and his great-grandchildren, Alexia, Kaiana, Sydney, and Maxwell. He married his beloved wife, Josephine, on July 28, 1956. He served his country in the Korean War and his professional career included 32 years at the phone company and bookkeeping for the furniture store. Donald was considered “Grandpa” to all, including neighbors. He enjoyed taking care of others and razzing them at the same time. His feisty personality always spiced up the party and he always lent a helping hand. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Martin of Tours. You could find him opening up the church and preparing it for Sunday morning mass. One of his recent hobbies was to laugh with the Big Bang Theory in his recliner. He participated in sports as a young man and later followed sport schedules religiously in the newspaper. He enjoyed many years of retirement with his lovely bride of 54 years.His humor, independence, and strength were an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He will be dearly remembered and missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley.Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5-9PM with Rosary at 7PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1PM at St. Martin of Tours Parish, 200 O’Connor Dr., San Jose.
