Donald was born February 22, 1925 in Shelbysville, IN. He served in the Army in the Asian Pacific Theater during World War II including the Liberation of the Philippines. Don later received a Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and a Master’s degree from San Jose State University. He retired after 30 years of public service as a social worker for Santa Clara County in 1988. Don was a natural athlete enjoying swimming as a life guard on Lake Michigan, ice skating, basketball, and had a passion for tennis. Nicknamed TD, for Tennis Don, he was a regular at Willow Glen Park for many years. Donald is survived by his Brother Robert, Son Frank, Daughter Elaine, Grandson Brandon, and Granddaughter Brianna.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM October 26, at Lima Family Funeral Home, 466 N Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Don’s memory to the South Valley YMCA www.ymcasv.org\southvalley, 408-226-9622.
