Dora R. Muñoz, 94, passed away peacefully at home in Santa Clara, with her family by her side, on Sunday, March 25, 2012. Born on April 23, 1917, in Lubbock, Texas, Dora lived everyday in celebration of life. In 1936, Dora made the Bay Area her permanent address, first moving to San Mateo and eventually settling in the Mountain View/Sunnyvale area, where she would work, play, and raise her family for the next 76 years. Dora watched her children grow and develop just as the area around her did – observing orchards turn to housing developments and engaging in numerous celebrations as each one of her children finished school, married, and had children of their own. After raising 11 children and loving and spoiling 46 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren, and 67 great-great grandchildren, it is needless to say that Dora will be missed immensely. We will all miss her warm smile, animated sense of humor, sweet demeanor and kind heart, and we are grateful for the many years we were able to share in her love. Dora is survived by her sisters, Della Delgado and Josie Duarte; her brother Ruben Romo; her children, Annie Sotelo, Roberta Frank, Rosie Leon, Jennie Martinez, Augie Muñoz, Mary Helen Singh, and Mary Lou Calderon, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dora is also survived by the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of her sons who have passed: the late Ruben Muñoz, Victor Muñoz, Tony Muñoz, and Joseph Valencia.
