Dwane Louis Gisi, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep after succumbing to cancer on October 14, 2024. Born on April 1, 1935, in South Dakota, and came to Santa Clara as a teenager to finish college and then marry and raise his family. Dwane’s life stood for resilience, craftsmanship, and the power of a good story.
He went on to have a distinguished career as a marketing sales director and was proud to work for the same engineering company for over 40 years. Dwane was an avid car enthusiast and delighted in tinkering on the family vehicles, enjoyed landscaping, and took great pride in keeping everything around the house in excellent working order. He loved watching old western movies, and was keen on barbequing any and everything, as well as whipping-up a batch of his famous pancakes for us on the weekends.
Dwane is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores, their children Doug, (Dan passed away earlier this year), and Debby, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A celebration of Dwane’s life will be held on October 29 with a funeral mass at St. Justin Church at 11am, followed by a committal service, and lunch, all friends and family
are welcome. The family suggests bringing a fun story to share amongst family and friends, as Dwane would have wanted laughter more than tears.
