Elinore is survived by their four children; Alicia, Chris (Rebeca), Mark and Adele, along with four grandchildren, Rebeca Camargo, David Camargo, Josue Camargo, and Alexander Peters.
She is also survived by a sister, Bernice, two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elinore Ann was the youngest of four, born January 26th 1939, to Gertrude and Herman Schmidt of Minden City, Michigan.
Raised on a farm, El attended a one-room schoolhouse thru the 8th grade. She went on to get a degree in Education with a major in Chemistry at Central Michigan University. While employed as a laboratory technician at Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, Michigan, she met Harold who was recommended to her as a tutor for a correspondence course she was enrolled in for career advancement.
A single tutoring session revealed they had more in common than their shared interest in chemistry and calculus. They soon married and started a family while Harold continued his own education.
Ellie was a skilled seamstress, phenomenal cook and baker, played tennis, clarinet and violin. She enjoyed gardening, reading and tutoring adults. With her husband's assistance, she managed their half-dozen rental properties, including all forms of maintenance: plumbing, heating, painting, locksmith work and hanging curtains, while Harold mowed the grass and shoveled the walks.
Her common sense was legendary and many of us sought her advice. Yes, to say she will be sorely missed is an understatement!
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial to be held at 6pm Friday, September 20, at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara.
Following on Saturday, September 21, at 10:30am a Funeral Mass will be held at The Carmelite Monastery, 1000 Lincoln St., Santa Clara.
