Born October 04, 1935 to John and Augusta Sousa, in Madeira, Portugal. She came to the US in 1951 by boat. Her father came here in 1947 and once he secured a job and a home he sent for his family to join him in Santa Clara, Ca. She was second to the youngest of 6 girls (Alda, Beatrice, Laura, Inez, Phyllis). She married her husband, the late George H. DeCoite, in June 1960. Together they had 3 children, George (wife Marva), Lori (husband Brian) & Kevin (wife Kelly). She had four grandchildren, Michael, Cortney, Chase (wife Anna) and Eric, and one great grandchild, Josephine. She worked at Mervyn's department store for 27 years before retiring in 1997. She would regularly attend St. Lawrence the Martyr Church in Santa Clara.
She often traveled to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe with 2 of her sisters. She has been on a Caribbean cruise and also an Alaskan cruise with her sisters. She went on a trip across country to Branson, Missouri with them as well.
She planned a family trip to Maui, Hawaii in 1997 so the grandchildren could see Hawaii and meet their great grandparents.
In 2006 a trip to Portugal was planned with her children and grandchildren, along with 2 of her sisters and their families. A total of 20 people traveled together to Lisbon and also spent time in Madeira where they were from. This was her only trip back there since coming here as a teenager. It was an amazing trip and she had a wonderful time.
She was dearly loved by all and will always be in our hearts.
