Born on December 12, 1955, in El Salvador to his parents, Enrique and Margoth Callejas, Enrique carried his roots with pride throughout his life. As a teenager in the early 1970s, he immigrated to the United States, beginning a journey marked by resilience, determination, and heart. He spent the majority of his life in Santa Clara, California, where he built a home, a family, and a life rich with meaning.
Enrique was the kind of presence that stayed—steady, familiar, and quietly reassuring. His love lived in the spaces between words, in the way he showed up, in the way he cared without needing recognition. To know him was to feel held, safe, and deeply loved.
He was a huge jokester, always ready with a laugh, a playful comment, or a smile meant to lift someone’s spirits. He loved making people laugh and feel good, and his humor was one of the many ways he showed his love. Music filled his soul, and it often served as the backdrop to his life—connecting memories, emotions, and moments shared with those he loved most.
Above all, Enrique was a devoted husband, father, and an adoring grandfather. His grandchildren—Dominic Collins, Jordan Callejas, and Scarlett Callejas—were his everything. They were his pride, his joy, and the light of his life. His love for them was boundless and unmistakable, and it will remain with them always.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Callejas; his children, Lisa Callejas and Enrique Callejas; his beloved daughter-in-law, Alex Cramer, whom he loved as his own daughter; his siblings, Thelma Lopez, Martha Brown, and Gibby Callejas; and by his nieces and nephews, whom he adored and loved deeply. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will forever feel both his absence and his presence.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we are grateful—for the years, the laughter, the music, the quiet strength, and the love that shaped our lives. Enrique’s memory lives on in familiar laughter, shared songs, treasured stories, and in the enduring bond of family. His love remains—felt in quiet moments, familiar places, and the lives he touched simply by being who he was.
Services will be held on Friday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Lima Mortuary.
A light lunch reception will follow onsite. Casual attire is welcome; there is no expectation to wear black. All who loved Enrique are warmly invited to attend and celebrate his life.
