Eugene John Bertoni

Eugene Bertoni, a wonderful man, died August 14th of Lymphoma. Gene was 73. He battled his illness bravely and persevered for 3 years. Gene was a strong influence in AA recovery programs and helped hundreds of people with their illness. He did meetings in San Quentin Prison, Soledad Prison and the county jails, etc. Gene was sober for 45 years. A milestone he was extremely proud of. Gene was also a proud member of the "MONKS". A Brotherhood group. They know who they are#8230;Gene was born in Washington, DC and moved to California in 1960. He married his wife Vera (Vita Rose) in 1970. Vera passed in 2002. Gene is survived by his sister Vivian and niece Nancy, nephews Joe, Gene and family, son Vince (Linda), 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, son Steve (Ann Marie), 3 grandchildren, son Mike and 2 grandchildren. Gene loved his family and friends and put everyone before himself. Visitation will be held Friday 8/17 from 4-7PM at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara. Funeral Service will be held Saturday 8/18 at 11AM at Lima Family Santa Clara. Interment will be held Tuesday 8/21 at 11AM at Mission City Memorial Park, 420 N Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations be sent to O'Connor Hospital. Please join us in celebrating Gene's life!
