January 8, 1929 in San Jose, California to parents Thomas and Marion
Lucido Sorci. Frank was the youngest in the family and quickly took on the
nickname “Babe,” which he was known as to all family and friends. Frank
grew up on the family ranch along with his brothers Jack and Joseph Sorci,
both deceased. He attended Bellarmine College Preparatory.
Frank continued to work on the family ranch until he was drafted to serve in
the Korean War. Shortly after receiving his honorable discharge from the
US Army, Frank met and married the love of his life, Prudence “Fran”
Sunseri. They had three children; Gaeton (Darlene), Marilyn Vanderhoof
(Peter) and Frank, four grandchildren; Nicole Vanderhoof Corkill (Blaine),
Spencer Vanderhoof, Dominica Sorci, and Marlo Sorci. Frank was known
as “Pop”. One of his greatest joys was meeting his first great grandchild
Cameron Reed Corkill just months before passing.
Frank was born into a large Sicilian ranching family, and he was very proud
of his family and heritage. In his adolescent and teenage years in addition
to working on the ranch, he enjoyed boxing, playing all sports, going to
dances and just hanging out with friends and family. Soon after marrying
he decided to follow what he knew best, he began working for Mayfair
Packing Co, a fruit packing house. Frank worked his way up through the
ranks ultimately retiring from a successful 40 year career as Head Buyer.
Following his retirement Frank enjoyed golfing with his buddies, frequent
visits to casinos, and hanging out with his grandchildren, attending all of
sports events and school functions. Whether it was meeting for lunch, or
just a coffee, he loved spending time with all.
Frank will be greatly missed, he was a very special man with a HUGE
presence and will leave a considerable void in many people’s lives. Always
ready to help family and friends in pursuit of their dreams. He was a kind,
strong and humble man. Frank will live on through everyone he touched.
