Gino Mansueto Barsanti

July 3, 1926February 6, 2013

Gino passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday at the age of 86. He was born to Pietro and Laurina Barsanti in McCloud, CA. In 1947, Gino was enticed by an opportunity to come to San Jose and open the Race Street Fish and Poultry Market with his uncle Ugo Stefani and brother-in-law Paride Riparbelli. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Lucianna Tacito. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last August. They were blessed with four loving children: Dan Barsanti (Shelly), Joyce Kudrna (Don), Mike Barsanti (Michelle), and Steve Barsanti (Janette). Gino cherished his family and especially loved being a “nonno” to his 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He instilled in them the importance of family, integrity and hard work. Gino’s optimism, zest for life, boundless energy and generosity were an inspiration to all who knew him . Gino is also survived by his treasured sister, Pia Riparbelli, many nephews, nieces and cousins. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Monday, Feb. 11th at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 Winchester Blvd. A Celebration of Gino's Life will be at 10am Tuesday, Feb. 12th at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 88 Race Street, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gino Barsanti Memorial at St. Francis High School, 1885 Miramonte Avenue, Mountain View, CA 94040 or

Dear Lou and Family,
My Mom and I were so sorry we could not attend Gino's services. Mom was in the hospital during that time. We just wanted you to know that Gino will always hold a very special place in our hearts. With love always, Linda Dentone and Doris Ghiorzi

Our deepest sympathy to the Barsanti family. Dino was so sorry to hear of Mr. Barsanti's passing. He has many fond memories of serving the entire family at Fandango. And I will never forget tagging along with my mother to Race St. to buy the freshest, (sometimes scary!) ingredients for a delicious dinner. Later, I brought my own children to shop, a rare pleasure in such a fast moving and ever changing world.

I was very sad to hear of Mr. Barsanti's passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with his loving family. As his Physical Therapist, I was always impressed by how hard he would try, even when he didn't have any energy. Also, he was never one to complain, but instead would show interest in others and how they were doing. I have been blessed to know the Barsantis, and my prayers will continue to go out for his beautiful family and many friends who I know will miss him greatly.
