

Harold Bruce Boyd was born in Detroit, Michigan on May, 3, 1933. He passed into God’s Kingdom under the loving hospice care of his two daughters on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the age of 83. Harold joined the Marine Corps in 1950 at the age of 17. He fought in Korea in the battles of the Inchon Landing and Chosin Reservoir. He met Dolores Robertson, his wife of 61 years, and married her in 1955 after a short romance. Harold moved his young family from Detroit to Santa Clara in 1960. He worked as a professional draftsman for a number of automobile, aerospace, electronics, and construction companies. He enjoyed his last job testing (and occasionally breaking) satellites for Loral. Harold was a voracious reader of military, European and American history. He enjoyed talking to almost everyone he met and had a quick wit. He also delighted in spending time with his large family.
Harold is preceded in death by his daughter Kathryn and son John. He was the loving husband of Dolores Boyd, father of Karen (Boyd-Sheehan), Greg, and Carol (McDonell). He is also the grandfather to six granddaughters and five grandsons.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 17th at 11:00 AM at St. Justin’s Catholic Church, 2655 Homestead Road in Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Justin’s Ministries.
