Irene Garrotto

Irene was born 95 years ago as Albena Suzanne Brigiotta in Jamestown, New York, as the youngest of six children, yet she eventually took care of all of her siblings before they passed away. Irene worked at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for almost 28 years in the OB-GYN, Pediatric and Orthopedic Departments.

Irene was an extremely selfless and caring person with a generous heart and gentle spirit. She was fiercely loyal to family and friends, and cherished time spent with family above everything else. She was a truly amazing lady.

Irene is survived by sons Tom Engkilterra and Peter Engkilterra, Sr., and seven grandchildren that she adored—Shad Engkilterra (Jenya & Masha), Autumn Kindell (Devin), Peter Engkilterra, Jr., Jared Engkilterra (Danielle), Adam Engkilterra (Amy), Krissy Engkilterra and Steven Engkilterra.

Irene also had eight great-grandchildren that she was immensely proud of—Aly Jordan (Tim), Zac Jordan, Sydney Johnson (Andrew), Ben Engkilterra, Kassie Engkilterra, Basia Engkilterra, Leia Engkilterra, and Isaiah Engkilterra.

Irene's family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful medical care provided by Dr. Daniel Ouyang and his nurse Anna, Dr. Deepu Nair, Dr. George Habibian, and the Lab and Infusion staff at Stanford Cancer Care Center in San Jose.

Funeral services will be family only per Irene's wishes.
